Remote part time job opportunity!

BC People First Non-Profit Society is looking for a new Provincial Coordinator.
Contract is 32 hours per month from home at $24.75/hour, one year contract
(with high probability of renewal, our current Coordinator has been with us since 2015)

 

Required: One evening meeting per month, ability to attend in person events yearly, and all other hours are flexible.

Duties

Society Operations:

-Registry Support, file yearly reports, prepare documentation

-Record keeping (minutes, agendas, membership lists)

Board of Directors Support:

-Support, assist, advise, organize and teach/train up to 10 person Board of Directors, all people who have been labelled with a developmental disability/diversabilities

-Work directly with the Board to carry out their goals and initiatives

-Meeting support, attend Board meetings, take minutes, prepare meeting packages, assist with preparation of agendas, support Secretary to send meeting reminders/action reminders, develop independent workplans and timelines for each Board member, act as Advisor to Bylaws and Constitution, maintain contact with any volunteer Advisors

-Manage timelines and keep track of deadlines (sending out agendas on time/yearly call for nominations/Board member tenures, funding requests or reporting etc)

-Assist with writing reports to National organization, People First Canada or other reports/presentations to funders if/as needed

-Identify duties of the Provincial Coordinator which could be passed onto a Director of the Board based on their abilities, and recognize the levels of support needed to be able to participate

Financial Support:

-Act as Accounts Payable liaison with Treasurer, create invoices if needed and assist Treasurer with independently preparing and mail cheques as needed

-Responsible for keeping Society on budget and managing project money

-Assist with Fund Development, grant applications, funding requests and create funding reports if/as needed

-Support and assist Treasurer or volunteer Financial Advisor with bank balancing and accounting recording (excel spreadsheet)

-File receipts and keep yearly accounting records

-Assist Treasurer to prepare year end report and creation of budget

Event Support:

-Coordinate and manage yearly events (small one day conferences, All General Meeting, workshop or learning events/meetings) including managing venue contacts, arranging food, scheduling speakers and facilitators and preparations of all event materials (flyers, programmes, meeting packages, schedules, AGM materials etc). Usually there is one small conference per year, up to 5 smaller events/presentations.

-Plan, organize and book travel arrangements, prepare travel cheques for expenses

– Identify duties for events which could be passed onto a Director of the Board based on their abilities, and recognize the levels of support needed to be able to participate

-Assist with creating PowerPoint presentations for conferences, workshops or learning events

-Attend and support the Board of Directors at the event/presentation/workshop

Communications:

-Public relations, answer emails and social media messages

-maintain and update website, identify opportunities to teach/train a Director of the Board based on their abilities and recognize the level of support needed to be able to participate.

-follow a media strategy

-assist with creation of a newsletter approx. 3-4x per year

-Maintain and create marketing, promotional and educational materials (print and electronic)

-Membership support, respond to membership enquires

Qualifications:

Ability to take charge BUT not take over (nothing about us, without us).

Ability to support/help/assist/teach/train and NOT do all the work that the Board could do.

Ability to identify the strengths and capabilities of others and recognize where support is needed.

Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to interact easily with different personalities/learning differences/diversabilities with an ability to set firm boundaries with people.

High degree of problem-solving abilities.

Superior project, time and organizational management skills.

Flexibility with changes in task and priorities using sound judgment, ability to manage and flex workload within allotted hours as needed throughout the months.

Able to multitask and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

Confident, clear and simple communicator.

Optimistic and energetic with the ability to motivate and inspire.

Strong knowledge and understanding of the People First movement and Disability Sector and a desire to learn about it.

Self-motivated, self-starter, and team player with a positive and professional approach.

Demonstrates strong work ethic and moral standards.

Able to represent the organization in a professional manner.

Must be dependable.

Must have a sense of humor.

Must have a passion for BC People First’s vision and values and making a difference in the lives of people labelled with a developmental disability.

Comfortable using WordPress, Canva and Mailchimp, excel spreadsheets, Facebook.

Work experience in the Non-Profit and/or Community Living sector will be considered a strong asset.

Located within the Lower Mainland.

A clear Criminal record with Vulnerable Sector check will be required.
