The Business Leadership Network (BLN)
The Business Leadership Network (BLN) was developed in the US in 1994 by the President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. The BLN is a means to engage employers in a focused effort to market the benefits of hiring qualified individuals with disabilities. Since 1994, over 40 BLN’s have been established throughout the United States. Through its activities, the BLN has created greater opportunities for employment as well as improving the understanding by the business community, of the employment issues facing the disabled workforce. It is estimated that there are over 2500 members in the United States.

Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP) – Abbotsford

Provides free employment connection services for individuals in skilled trades. Offers connection to employment opportunities for individuals with certifications in the skilled trades (construction-related) who are ready to work. Also helps eligible individuals connect to training courses or programs, obtain materials needed for work, and other connections to move skills towards apprenticeship and beyond. Services are based on the individual’s needs and can include job placement, workplace skills, job search assistance, and dedicated training courses.
