SESSION INFO: « Back to all events
Music therapy is a practice in which a professional uses music to help individuals comfortably grow, express, explore, and play. Music can address emotional, social, spiritual and physical needs in a fun, exciting and engaging way!
Each session is an hour-long, and welcomes individuals with any musical interests or abilities! Together, we sing, dance, improvise, explore instruments (including homemade), listen to, and discuss beloved songs.
Although our main goal in music therapy is to have an enjoyable time, it must be known that an individual may experience unease in certain musical programs, activities, and discussions. This is due to the emotional nature of many musical pieces. (For example, some songs might make an individual feel sad, frustrated, or angry). Music therapy can provide an individual with a safe space to address ANY feelings that may arise in a session. That said, if an individual is finding they are not comfortable in Music Therapy, they can withdraw from the services at any time.
During these turbulent times, music can serve as a universal comfort to help bring us together and navigate the changes in the world. Not to mention, it can provide a great distraction from the everyday challenges we are all facing. Join us for an inclusive, interactive, musical experience!
