My Amazing Life

A young man with short dark hair, wearing a gray jacket over a blue shirt, stands indoors near large windows with a neutral expression.

By: Richard Koh

My name is Richard Koh. I am 31 years old and I live with my family, consisting of my parents, my sisters, and one brother. I would love to share a little about myself to help others better understand me.

I am a very friendly and easy-going person. I am caring and enjoy having conversations with my staff about places that are important to me, such as attending church, which I enjoy doing. I also like discussing White Spot and usually invite my staff to join me. However, this is a joke since I often go with my sister.

Every weekend, I talk about going to Japan and Singapore, where I have an uncle, but of course, I am not going since I already went there last year.

Attending my program is very important to me, so I attend five days a week. I enjoy staying busy, and one of my favorite activities is riding the sky train and taking transit. The double-decker is particularly cool.

I love peoples’ company, and I take advantage of using my sense of humor to make them laugh and feel happy.

I like taking care of myself by going to the gym since I need to strengthen my upper body. I do this because I need to be strong to use my crutches. Sometimes, I need reminders to slow down, because I get too excited and start walking too fast. Slowing down helps prevent me from falling.

Another of my favorite activities is playing ball with my best friend. I also enjoy visiting the library to search for books about the armed forces, which brings me happiness.

Something that is not too cool is that I have some allergies, and I have to be careful with my food because dairy, fish, peanuts, and chocolate can make me sick.

I am very gentle when speaking to my friends, family, and staff, and I definitely prefer that people talk to me in a calm and friendly manner, rather than louder voices of excitement.

One of my favorite aspects of the program is spending time with my friends and male staff members or staff of my age.

I am kind and enjoy collecting flyers and promotional materials from various places, then sharing them with my friends and staff. I consider myself very fortunate. Many friends and staff like me because I have a nice personality. J
