I attend Surrey Connections Monday to Friday. I get there on Handy Dart. I really enjoy my schedule doing gym, bingo, and other fun activities like going to Grouse Mountain with my friends. I like going to new places in the community by bus, train, and sea bus.

I went to Lonsdale Quay on Tuesday and I bought my lunch there. On Wednesday we are going to play bingo. I like going bowling with my friend. I like going for nature walks in the parks and listening to music at the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre. I enjoy my days with the staff and my friends at Surrey Connections.

On my birthday we had fun! There was a lot of food, snacks, and dinner at my friend’s place. After that, we went home and watched drama and suspense on TV, on Netflix, and on YouTube!

In July my group got a new schedule from the staff!  My friend took his schedule home on an iPad. I have it with my Compass Handy Card and with my money. There is so much we’re going to do! We are going to Lonsdale Quay by bus, sky train, and sea bus. I will buy a chicken burger, fries and coke there. They will make sure we all bring money, and our blue Compass Handy Cards, and remind us we will not need a bagged lunch.

I am happy to see and work through my calendar for the month of July. I chose some activities like going to pottery classes. I’m going to go to the DCLS Picnic on July 14.

I won’t be playing bingo anymore. I’ll be going to basketball and floor hockey once a week on Wednesdays. I’ll have coffee at Tim Hortons. On Thursday we will watch food safety videos. I will also watch how to make egg sandwiches on YouTube. I will need to take yogurt for a snack that day.

I like my friends, the staff, and my program a lot! July’s activities will keep me busy!

Community Living Month Oct 2026

October 2026 has been proclaimed Community Inclusion Month in British Columbia, recognizing the importance of building communities where everyone has the opportunity to belong, participate, and thrive. The proclamation is an important statement of what an inclusive province should look like: a place where everyone has opportunity, choice and control in their own lives, and where people with disabilities are welcomed as full and valued members of their communities.
