B.C. self advocate leaders are joining with Inclusion BC and the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship to host a Self Advocate Leadership Institute in Kelowna in August 2023

Please join the Self Advocate Leadership Institute planning committee for one of their virtual focus group conversations and help shape the 2023 Self Advocate Leadership Institute.

The institute is the first-ever event of its kind in our province. The four-day learning event is designed and presented by B.C. self advocates, and is for self advocates.
“Self Advocacy is speaking out for yourself and being able to ask for what you need and want.” – planning committee memberThe virtual focus group conversations are to learn what people are interested in and create a fully inclusive event. The planning committee will take what people share and over the next 18 months develop the Self Advocate Leadership Institute.

We encourage you to share this information with self advocates to participate in one of the focus group conversations.

All participants’ names will be entered into a draw for a free ticket to the Everybody Belongs, Inclusion BC 2022 Conference.

Should you have further questions please contact info@inclusionbc.org

Focus group conversations
These focus groups are led by members of the Self Advocate Leadership Institute planning committee. Each conversation will be held virtually on Zoom and will be one-hour long.

Please come prepared to talk about:

  • What are the things you are interested in learning more about?
  • What does leadership mean to you?
  • What skills would you like to learn?
  • How do we make learning accessible for all?
  • What does being a self advocate mean to you?
