My name is Jonathan Righton and I am a member of the Self-Advocates of the Rockies located in Cranbrook, BC.
Here I have the opportunity to share my experiences on life to other advocates that may have experienced the same as me and we have the opportunity to form a friendship and I get to show my photography as well!
I was born, raised, and still living in Kimberley, BC. It’s one of the best places to live in BC. Kimberley has a historic presence for a community and my last name is part of that history as my late grandfather “Chester Righton” was the Official Town Greeter.
I work for REALM in Cranbrook and I am their Administrative Assistant/Database Clerk.
Now on to my story…
I created my photography Facebook page on November 24, 2013 because I have the passion and good eye for photography.
I wanted to display God’s Creations and the talent I have for everyone see.
Most to all my photography moments have been captured where I live in the East Kootenays, but have shot other parts where I have traveled including the West Kootenays.
I originally got into photography in the summer of 2002 fresh out of high school with an old 35 mm camera and film.
My photography fun lasted until summer 2003. I walked away from the interest of photography for six long years. I did have small spurts during that hiatus but it wasn’t much.
The revival and a new starting point happened on July 4, 2009 when I was introduced to my first digital camera from a family member and the spark of interest came back for me.
On that same day I was working for a gentleman and his driver and I traveled around with him in the East Kootenays of BC.
The scenery was breathtaking and I happened to have my camera so I started capturing the memories that are still with me to this day. It was then that Right-On Photography was born.
After three years with my now old digital camera, I felt it was time to upgrade because the memories I was capturing were sunrises, sunsets and other landscapes.
So on February 29, 2012, I got a Nikon Coolpix point and shoot camera for my birthday. It had the features I was looking for with many different scene settings.
My sky pictures now come out crisper.
As the years continued I started expanding my categories of things to capture including a wedding and two successful engagement sessions for two best friends, and so on.
Another key element with my photography is with my local hockey team, the Kimberley Dynamiters.
I have spent the last six seasons capturing pictures at every home game and gained a positive community reputation with my on ice pictures taken for the newspaper.
The hockey part of my photography will always be a part of me on a personal level as I dedicated every season especially the last three years to my late Dad who took me to many games since 1991.
Presently, I’m still actively capturing memories and moments with my camera and I look forward to what else is out there in this beautiful area where I live.
I do have the travel bug in me so the latest memories I have captured was when I traveled to the Columbia-Shuswap & North Okanagan regions of BC.
I will always be expanding my adventures year after year and looking forward to the next and I am only a year and a half away until my 10 year anniversary in 2019.
As I conclude my history, if you are in shock and awe of talent while going through my Right-On Face Book page and would like your own prints for your home or workplace contact me and we can workout a fair negotiation.
