Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) Awareness Month is September. International FASD Awareness Day is held annually on September 9. The date, the ninth day of the ninth month, is meant to highlight the importance of abstaining from alcohol during the nine months of pregnancy.
The awareness month focuses on the wider term, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), which includes the full range of disabilities that can occur in individuals prenatally exposed to alcohol.
