November 2025: Peace, Kindness, and Compassion

As we enter November, The Kamloops Self Advocate Newsletter Is excited to announce that this will be the last month using our current layout. Starting in December, we’ll be introducing a fresh new design that’s modern, accessible, and easy to read — while keeping the same friendly and positive tone that readers have enjoyed since the newsletter began in September 2013. We’re thrilled to be entering our 13th year with a layout that reflects growth and creativity.

This month, our theme focuses on peace, kindness, and compassion — three values that make the world brighter for everyone. Peace isn’t just about the absence of conflict; it also means being non-judgmental and understanding of experiences that others may not always relate to or fully understand. That includes people living with mental health challenges, developmental and physical disabilities. True peace comes from acceptance, inclusion, and respect for all.

November is also a time for remembrance and gratitude. On November 11th, we honour our veterans and thank them for their courage, service, and sacrifices. Many veterans also live with mental health conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and they deserve our support and compassion.

As we say goodbye to our old layout and prepare for a new chapter, let’s continue spreading peace, kindness, and compassion this November — creating a world where everyone, no matter their abilities or experiences, feels valued, respected, and understood. “Peace begins with understanding.” – Anonymous Kindness

Community Living Month Oct 2026

October 2026 has been proclaimed Community Inclusion Month in British Columbia, recognizing the importance of building communities where everyone has the opportunity to belong, participate, and thrive. The proclamation is an important statement of what an inclusive province should look like: a place where everyone has opportunity, choice and control in their own lives, and where people with disabilities are welcomed as full and valued members of their communities.
