Nominations are now open for CLBC’s 2022 WOW (Widening our World) Awards!

Inclusion takes many forms.  An inclusive community is welcoming and respectful of all people. It is accessible, safe, culturally sensitive, and provides an opportunity for social connection and belonging.

Since 2009, CLBC has presented Widening Our World (WOW) Awards to recognize British Columbians who are inclusion champions.  Recipients from across B.C. have been honoured and celebrated for their dedication and commitment to making sure their communities are full of opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to lead full lives, have rich relationships and choice in how they live, work and play.

The WOW Awards are a great way to tell us about the inclusion champions in your community so that we can recognize and celebrate them together.

Nominate an Inclusion Champion for a 2022 Widening Our World (WOW) Award

The WOW Award nominations are a chance to recognize and celebrate the different ways people are building inclusion across B.C. This might be through helping people with developmental disabilities build their skills, create more friendships, get a job or find an inclusive home. It might also be through culturally safe and respectful inclusion of Indigenous Peoples CLBC serves.

Whether it is an employer, teacher, support worker, community member, self-advocate, or anyone else making sure their community is welcoming and respectful of all people, CLBC wants people to tell us about it!

Nominations are open from August 2 – September 7, 2022, at 5:00 pm.

People receiving an award (and the person who nominated them) will be contacted in September 2022.  WOW, Awards will be presented to recipients at events in their hometown during Community Inclusion Month 2022.
